Let’s face it, when I started up blogging I searched “create a blog” on google search and the first link that came up was to blogspot. I then created my space using this platform and endured endless stress trying to get my site to look professional. Yes I learned ALOT about CSS along the way, but I am by no means a coding wizard.
Blogger was a good place to start. The post creation is simple, and the options are pretty straightforward – until it comes to your template. Before I bought a template on etsy I would literally spend hours maniplulating my template so that the drop-down menu would look right and work. I am proud of what I managed to achieve using blogger but felt as my blog is growing it no longer gives the level of creative freedom I would like.
Already I can see that WordPress uses a better design format. Once you have framework for your theme you can click through a list to customise your site. There will no longer be hours spend tapping my head on the desk because the CSS won’t work.
It is also known that the SEO on blogger isn’t as good as WordPress. I’m no SEO expert to be sure, but if the migration to WordPress brings in more traffic in the long run I’ll be a happy gal.
Lastly, Google no longer have the final say on my site. Technically on blogger they own the site and can potentially shut it down whenever. On WordPress hellocorinne is my baby and I have full control.
Please note that some of my feature images are still missing as I’m steadily going through old posts and updating everything. I’ve started fixing permalinks too (feel free to message me if you spot any broken links).
