Kat Von D | London Calling

Corinne - January 5, 2017

When Kat Von D’s collection finally landed in the UK earlier this year I was super excited to test it out. I have heard so many great things about this brand and never attempted ordering from the US Sephora website (eh custom charges? no thanks). I  couldn’t wait to test her tattoo liner and most popular lip colours. As a newbie to the brand, I thought that the best way to test the products out was to buy the limited edition ‘London Calling’ gift set. This gift set including three sample sizes of Kat’s bestselling and favourite products from the collection. I thought this was definitely worth the £19.50 I paid for the gift set as the full-sized versions would cost £16 for each.img_0562 img_0572img_0578First up, there is no mentioning Kat Von D cosmetics without chatting about the Tattoo Liner in shade ‘Trooper’. I’m always on the hunt for a gorgeous liner, and this has been on my wishlist ever since the line first launched. It is a high-pigment, waterproof liner in satin black that stays put all day.  It does not fade, melt, crack or run. The brush has an innovative tip that offers a precise application, it is super flexible like a liquid eyeliner and it glides across the lash line as easily as your typical pen eyeliner. On my first try, I thought the finish was not as dark as I would usually go for but the application was so smooth and precise I could overlook this smaller detail.

Kat’s Studded Kiss Lipstick in ‘Lolita’ (dusty rose) uses colour cushion technology. This means that the lipstick has lasting wear, one-swipe payoff, and velvet touch comfort. I have worn this shade multiple times since purchasing and it takes up to 4 hours for it to feel dry on my lips – which all you lipstick addicts should already know is pretty darn good. I thought the studded casing is really pretty and the creme brulee scent was a sweet finish.

Finally, Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in ‘Double Dare’ (cocoa blush) is shown in the pictures above. Lip lacquers were my favourite type of beauty product to try out in 2016. This long-wear, full coverage, smooth matte finish liquid lipstick was fantastic. There is a reason why these lip lacquers were so popular last year, and I expect them to continue to sell well in 2017. The high pigment colour combined with the creamy formula made this such a comfortable product to wear, and I imagine the vitamin E in formula contributed toward this greatly. I love that the lipstick shades chosen for this gift set would suit anybody no matter their undertones or skin colour.

  • This year we submit our dissertations electronically. I handed in my first submission of my dissertation on Friday, I then proceeded to resubmit over the weekend because I’m a perfectionist. Today it is officially complete, no more changes! The beast is done and I patiently await the fate of my degree.
  • I swear this will be me by the time I hand in my dissertation in March, I must be a crazy person because I want to do further study as well...
